THE Central Karoo District Tourism's (CKDT) town of Prince Albert has followed Overberg Tourism Authority's initiative by launching its own "Be a Friend to a Tourist" award, announcing the town's mayor, Dawid Rossouw, as the first recipient of the award for April.
The project aims to identify one person or organisation who displayed courtesy and friendliness "over and above expectations" towards an individual tourist/group or for efforts in marketing the town as a tourism destination.
The public is invited to make nominations, the results of which will be published in the media.
The mayor was chosen for the "time, energy and effort he puts in to marketing and maintaining the tourism potential of the town", according to CKDT's tourism chief, Andrew Tudhope.
