A baby hare hitched a ride for 322km, from Durham in northeastern England to Gartocharn in Scotland.

According to the Daily Record, it was found in a Gartocharn resident’s bedroom after the backpack-wearer had travelled there from Durham.

The Scottish SPCA was contacted and staff took the young animal to the National Wildlife Rescue Centre at Fishcross.

Said centre manager Chris Hogsden. “One of the residents had recently returned from Durham and we think the hare might have been hiding in their backpack unbeknownst to them.”
