Mongolia and the UK agree to direct air service

The UK and Mongolia have inked a new air services agreement, paving the way for direct flights between the two nations.

An agreement between the two countries was established in 2000, however a renewed agreement  was necessary after the UK left the EU. As a result of the new deal, direct flights will be operated by Mongolian flagship carrier MIAT in the future.

The UK will be the sixth country to fly directly to Chinggis Khaan International Airport, Ulaanbaatar, alongside China, Germany, Japan, Korea and Russia.

The air services agreement was signed by the Minister of Roads and Transport Development in Mongolia and the UK’s ambassador to Mongolia. It encompassed compliance with laws and regulations, fair competition, codesharing, take-off and landing slots as well as registration with the International Civil Aviation Organization.
