Ecuador has cancelled visa-free transit for 45 countries, including 34 African countries, as the country aims to improve transit regulations and address security concerns related to irregular migration.
Travellers from the affected countries will now require a visa to transit Ecuadorian airports, regardless of whether they remain within the international zone, according to Business Insider Africa.
Some of the African countries affected by the new measures include Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique and Angola as well as Rwanda and Uganda.
Previously, travellers from these countries could transit without a visa if they stayed within the international transit area.
