FlySafair Chief Marketing Officer, Kirby Gordon, has confirmed to Travel News that the airline now has a new start-up date for its direct flights to Mauritius – March 8.

The airline originally planned to start its Mauritius flights on December 11 but due to the Omicron variant crisis, decided in December to cancel the flights for December, January and February and delay the start to March 8.

The service will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Flight FA800 will depart JNB at 09h00 and arrive in Mauritius at 15h15. Flight FA801 will depart Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Mauritius, at 16h15 and land in Johannesburg at 18h30. Flight time is approximately four hours.

“We are super-excited about our first route beyond South Africa’s borders. It’s a huge milestone for the airline,” said Gordon.

Standard fares will include a 20kg, single bag, checked-luggage allowance.

FlySafair’s new business-class solution (where middle seats between aisle and window passengers are blocked for added comfort and privacy) will be available for website bookings only.
