MSC vamps SA sailings

MSC Cruises’ guests

can look forward to

new and improved

South African itineraries.

A bigger and better ship

– the MSC Musica – will

replace the MSC Sinfonia on

2018/19 cruise itineraries.

The ship, which arrives in

October 2018 from the

Mediterranean, has more à la

carte menus, more swimming

pools, more entertainment

facilities, and more lounges

than the Sinfonia. The Musica

is able to accommodate over

2 500 guests.

The cruise line has also

launched a new destination,

Pomene Bay, in Mozambique.

Sailings to the island start

this October for MSC’s

2017/18 itineraries.

New md, Ross Volk,

addressed media at a recent

event, saying he was excited

to take the cruise line into

its next evolution of cruising

in South Africa. “The focus

now is to build on the already

powerful reputation of MSC

Cruises by nurturing deeper

collaboration and enhancing

partnerships so that we’re

stronger than ever before to

respond to socio-economic

changes in a positive and

effective manner.”

On the international front,

MSC’s new-build programme

will see 11 new ships

introduced by 2026. The

MSC Meraviglia, which will be

launched in June 2017, is

the company’s new flagship

and next-generation megaship.

The ship will be able to

accommodate over

5 000 passengers. The

MSC Seaside is due to enter

year-round service in the

Caribbean in December

2017, with seafront

promenades, beach-like

condos, an interactive aqua

park at sea, glass-walled

atriums and panoramic

elevators.
