MTV draws more US tourists

THE prestigious American-based international television music channel MTV is planning to tap South Africa's market of musicians, singers and entertainers - which could be a major boost for the county.
Producers, managers and Deejays from MTV will arrive over the next few months to tour clubs, bars and shebeens nationwide in an unprecedented talent-spotting exercise, according to Blacky Komani, general manager of the Americas for Satour.
He confirmed that South African music has a growing reputation, especially among African-Americans, following exposure in media features, including a week's radio broadcasts from Cape Town to a number of US regions.
"It's great for tourism because more Americans will come to South Africa. It's just some of the good news for South Africa which is coming out of the States these days," he added.
