The new luxury Sun Vacation Club development at Sun City, Lefika Villas – currently under construction – has seen a “phenomenal response” since its launch in early October, exceeding its sales targets by over 300%.

Janita Donaldson, GM: Sun Vacation Club Group, told Travel News: “The Lefika Villas were born from the market demand for a high-end luxury, self-catering product, City Resort. The strong response has highlighted the appetite for more space and more luxury.”

Donaldson noted that construction of the villas was on track for completion in the fourth quarter next year. “The first mock-up villa will be completed by December 15 for prospective buyers to view it on appointment only.”

The addition of the Lefika Villas – 48 three-bedroom villas and 10 four-bedroom villas – will increase the Sun Vacation Club at Sun City to 478 units.

This new R295 million development represents Sun International’s first significant expansion at Sun City since 2004.

Sun International CEO, Anthony Leeming, said: “We are experiencing significant demand for Sun Vacation Club accommodation at Sun City and this expansion will help satisfy this demand. We are confident that this development will achieve above-market returns.”

Donaldson added: “The Sun International brand is the cornerstone of the Sun Vacation Club’s success, together with the high standard of service delivery and our location within the world-renowned Sun City Resort.”

She said: “The Sun Vacation Club product is flexible in that it caters for different individual needs with a five- or 10-year membership option that gives members a choice of 41 Flexi weeks and 11 Peak weeks.

“The Flexi weeks can be split between a midweek or a weekend. The 11 peak weeks guarantee members a holiday during school holidays or special events. Units are also refurbished every 10 years, eliminating special levies and ensuring the asset is maintained to the highest standard.”
