AFTER 35 years with the
company, ceo of Imperial
Car Rental Division, Dawn
Nathan-Jones, has resigned.
Imperial operates the brands
Europcar and Tempest.
“Dawn has taken the
decision to peruse other
business and personal
interests. She will remain in
the business until the end
of 2015 to facilitate the
continuity and handover,”
Imperial said in a statement.
Dawn started her career with
Imperial Car Rental in Durban
in 1980. During that time she
held a number of key roles
and was appointed to the Car
Rental Board in 1986 and
thereafter as ceo of Imperial
Car Rental in 1999. During her
tenure as ceo,
the business has
grown from a fleet
of 3 000 and a
staff complement
of 350 to a fleet
of 20 000 and a
staff complement
of 1 350. Under
her leadership,
the rebranding
of Imperial Car
Rental to Europcar
was completed in
2009, and she has overseen
nine acquisitions and a
number of successful mergers.
Martin Lydall, coo of Imperial
Car Rental Division, says:
“Dawn will always remain a
fundamental part of what this
business is. Her passion for
customers, hunger
for success, drive
to deliver results
and genuine caring
for the wellbeing
and growth of the
people who work
here are ingrained
in the business.
This is the legacy
Dawn leaves, one
we will cherish,
nurture and grow.
We wish Dawn
great happiness and success
in the path she has chosen.”
Corné Venter, current ceo
of Imperial Auto Pedigree and
Imperial Auto Body, will take
over the position. Corné has
