New face at BidTravel

New HWT gm

BIDTRAVEL’S non-corporate

brands have introduced

a number of changes for

2018.

Anneke Jordan has

been appointed gm of

the Harvey World Travel

consortium and will be

providing more handson

interaction with the

consortium’s franchisees.

Anneke brings over 10

years of experience in

retail to her new role,

having worked at Rennies

Travel, Travel with Flair,

Carlson Wagonlit London

and also having run her

own ITC for three years. At

Travelport she also worked

in the helpdesk and

sales office before being

appointed an account

manager and then regional

manager for Travelport in

Gauteng.

Lidia Folli, ceo of

BidTravel, explained that

Harvey World Travel had

always been run quite

independently of the other

BidTravel brands and that,

for the first time, the group

would focus on sharing

innovations, technologies

and best practices with

the Harvey franchisees,

which had worked so

well for BidTravel’s larger

consortiums.

While Marco Cristofoli

will focus 80% of his

time on running BCD

Travel in his role as ceo,

he will also continue

as BidTravel Leisure

brand coo. A number of

further developments are

expected to be rolled out

in the leisure division

soon, including product

expansion in existing

businesses such as Bush

Breaks and World Travel

as well as a handful of

possible new acquisitions.

Growing BCD locally

Thenjiwe Morule has been

appointed head of sales

and marketing for BCD

Travel. The role, which

has been vacant for a

number of years, has been

rekindled with the intention

of growing the international

travel brand’s presence in

South Africa.

Lidia says, while the

BCD brand is well known

internationally, with 60%

of its South African

revenue originating from its

corporate global business

accounts, they believe

the group has a lot of

potential for local growth

too. “We are focused

on entrenching the BCD

brand – which is presently

the less well known of our

corporate brands – more

firmly in the local market.

As a business that is more

than 50% black owned, we

believe we are well placed

to grow the business

further in South Africa.”

Thenjiwe began her

career as a graduate at

BMW South Africa, where

she worked for six years

before moving across to

Rennies Travel as a sales

executive. Within six

months she was promoted

to national sales manager

for the group, with a

team of sales executives

from around the country

reporting to her. She also

spent eight years at Avis

as regional sales manager

for Gauteng before moving

across to BCD Travel.
