Andrew McDonic, former CEO of Tourvest Financial Services, passed away on Monday, May 26, at the age of 59 years.

McDonic was a chartered accountant who had a career spanning financial services, travel and tourism, foreign exchange and the motor industry.

Claude Vankeirsbilck, COO Tourvest Travel Services, said McDonic had joined Tourvest at its inception in 1998, starting out at the head office and heading up both Financial Services and Travel Services at different times over the period.  From 2007 up to 2024, McDonic was CEO of Tourvest Financial Services until his retirement in 2024.

McDonic's love for the game of golf was well-known in the travel industry. He was a member of the Parkview Golf Club, and according to an ex-colleague, he was planning a golfing trip to Scotland this week.

“Andrew was an accomplished chartered accountant who added real value. He was extremely sociable and loved a good time. He was a keen golfer and also, in his younger days, a good left-hand opening batsman. Andrew enjoyed life and never missed an opportunity to have fun,” said Vankeirsbilck.

Morné du Preez, Tourvest Travel Services CEO, concurred: “Andrew enjoyed the good things in life. He was very sociable and extremely friendly – he loved to interact with people. He was always ready for a game of golf or a party.”

Vankeirsbilck said McDonic had been living with cancer for around five years.

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
