Paris is the most stressful destination to travel to in 2025, according to a study by Ibiza Summer Villas.

The study was based on a combination of crime trends, weather conditions and tourist density. The reviews at tourist attractions were also taken into consideration.

Top three stressful destinations

Tourists indicated that they found Paris the most stressful, especially due to the number of visitors. According to the findings, the city welcomes 47,5 million visitors annually, crammed into a city of just 105 square kilometres.

The city also ranked fifth worst in the crime category.

Hanoi is the second-most stressful city to visit, and has, according to the study, the worst weather conditions, with humidity at 84%.

In third place is Shanghai with 300 million visitors annually. The city came in 19th on the list of negative reviews at the city’s various tourist attractions.

South Africa on the list

Cape Town was ranked the 15th most stressful destination to visit due to a number of factors, including ranking second for crime and 13th worst for weather.

The city with the worst crime, according to the study, is Rio de Janeiro, and ranked 17th on the overall list.

The most relaxing cities

The study also mentioned the three most relaxing cities to visit. Dubai ranked first as the least stressful city, even though 17,1 million tourists visit annually, there is more than enough space, placing it 47th in tourist density.

Munich is the second least stressful city to visit due to its manageable tourist density, mild weather and low crime rate.

Third is Melbourne, which boasts the second lowest tourist density in the study, with just 1 265 visitors per square kilometre.
