South Africans in the United Kingdom can now apply for their passports through the VFS Passport Application Centre, the official outsourcing partner for consular services for the Republic of South Africa.
This follows complaints from South Africans enduring waits of between six months and a year for a new passport, and struggling to get hold of the SA High Commission via both phone and email.
South Africans in the UK are now no longer restricted to having to renew their passport in London, and can now arrange to have their application interview on weekdays between 08h30 and 14h00 in Edinburgh, Birmingham, Manchester and London.
The new service also means they will be able to track the progress of their passport application online.
