Agents have raised concerns about flight cancellations on CemAir’s Johannesburg-Plettenberg Bay and Cape Town-Plett routes.
CemAir has battled to fill all the flights on its Plett routes, resulting in flight cancellations where passengers are rerouted through George with a two-hour transfer, or where clients have to change their flight dates in order to be accommodated.
The airline says capacity constraints aside, mismanagement and a lack of infrastructure provision on the part of The Bitou Municipality (BM) in Plett are the real challenges the airline faces with regard to its Plett routes.
CemAir will meet with BM on Monday (July 16) to address challenges and work on a way forward. Miles van der Molen, ceo of CemAir, said that if BM failed to commit to a sustainable working relationship where they provide essential infrastructure, CemAir would be left with no other option but to consider cutting its Plett routes at the end of the summer season.
