British Airways (operated by Comair) and kulula.com have updated their

name change refund request policy as they have seen an increase in

refund requests due to incorrect names on issued tickets. All refunds

will now be in accordance with the applicable fare rules. Tickets will

be accepted without needing to be re-issued, provided the booking is

endorsed with the name correction in the following cases:

1. Spelling changes/error corrections (maximum of three letters).

Discretion to be used where it is clear it is the same customer)

2. Changes to the last name (marriage/divorce) Proof required.

3. Changes to prefixes

4. Interchanging last name and first name

5. Tickets issued in the passenger’s second name

6. Nickname where the initial is the same. ID will be accepted

The airlines urge agents to have a copy of the customer’s ID or passport

before making a reservation and check that names are spelt correctly.
