ATTRACTING tens of thousands of spectators, the Portnet Port Elizabeth Harbour Festival, held at the weekend has been hailed as a huge success.
Festival co-ordinator Lize Hayward described the festival as "a very vibrant, lively and colourful event."
Thanks to the good weather, charity organisation Round Table sold almost 4 000 litres of beer, and jazz and choral music on the docks gave people a chance to listen to great music the whole day through.
But as was expected, the highlight of the festival was the Formula 1 powerboat racing. The Portnet racing team won all three of the Formula 1 powerboat races in the sixth round of the SA Prop Tour Series.
Thirteen-times South African powerboat champion, Peter Lindenberg, took the first two races, while team-mate Renier Engelbrecht took the third.
