Protea Hotel Lusaka to double size

The 100-room Protea Hotel Lusaka in Zambia is constructing a new wing that will see it grow to 237 rooms.

The expansion is to service the growing demand for business travel as Zambia’s economy continues to grow. The hotel is located within the Arcades Shopping and Entertainment lifestyle hub opposite the Mulungushi Conference Centre.

“Zambia, like many economies in Africa, is showing phenomenal growth and as business expands so does the need for accommodation with a hotel brand that is known and trusted across Africa. Protea Hotel Lusaka’s prime position in the capital as well as its superior accommodation and service offering mean the demand is there to invest tens of millions of US dollars in the creation of this large new wing,” says Danny Bryer, director of sales, marketing and revenue for the Protea Hospitality Group.

The new build will include a restaurant, a bar, pool, free Wi-Fi, satellite television and in-room work stations. The hotel also offers conferencing facilities for up to 80 people.
The new wing is expected to be open in February 2014.
