QantasLink has added flights to its schedule between Adelaide and Kangaroo Island to start in July, to support tourism after the devastating bushfires.
The decision comes after Regional Express’s decision to exit the route, according to John Gissing, ceo of QantasLink.
QantasLink previously operated five return flights a week during peak-season which dropped to three services during off-peak. It will now operate 12 return services per week throughout the year.
QantasLink will introduce a re-timed flight schedule to facilitate easy connections for tourists arriving in Adelaide on codeshare airlines Emirates and American Airlines and travelling on to the island.
The airline also plans to work closely with the South Australian Tourism Commission to support its #BookThemOut campaign to attract more visitors to the island.
Sales for the additional flights, which will be operated by a 50-seat Q-300, are already open. The airline also flies between Melbourne and Kangaroo Island during the summer.
