Qantas has announced yet another aircraft delivery delay to its highly anticipated Project Sunrise, which aims to operate the world’s longest direct flights.
The flights would operate between Sydney and London as well as Sydney and New York, using new Airbus A350-1000s.
The first 12 aircraft were ordered from Airbus in 2022 and were meant to be delivered in 2025. However, in 2024, airline revealed that, due to delivery delays and design technicalities it would only see the aircraft delivered by the end of this year.
Airbus told Bloomberg that the aircraft delivery this year would be delayed due to supply chain issues.
According to Qantas’s website, the first aircraft will only be delivered in April 2027.
