Ras Al Khaimah, the exciting new destination for South Africans

09 Sep 2022
Jais Flight is the world’s longest zipline.

Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) is back in South Africa, hosting travel trade and MICE events in both Johannesburg and Cape Town to introduce and promote tourism to this nature-driven Emirate.

Located just 45 minutes from Dubai International Airport, Ras Al Khaimah is renowned for its outstanding nature, leisure, adventure and authentic offerings. With an extraordinary history dating back over seven millennia, the northernmost Emirate in the UAE has become one of the most sought-after destinations in the Middle East.

Ras Al Khaimah is a wonderful family holiday destination.

With regular flights connecting Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban with Dubai, the short hop to Ras Al Khaimah opens new opportunities for adventure, exploration and relaxation. From international sporting events and unique MICE opportunities to exciting activities for the leisure market, Ras Al Khaimah is the hidden gem of the UAE to be explored.

The destination offers over 8 000 rooms. Hotels range from three- to five-star luxury with prime beachfront locations. South African travellers will appreciate the all-inclusive programmes offered by the majority of hotels, which range from local to internationally renowned brands such as Waldorf Astoria, Rixos, Mövenpick, Radisson, Hilton, DoubleTree and Hampton.

Ras Al Khaimah is home to Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the UAE and known as the adventure hub of the Middle East. Offering numerous hiking and mountain biking opportunities, the mountain is home to the Jais Adventure Park, a gateway to attractions such as Jais Flight, the world’s longest zipline, Jais Sky Tour, a series of six exhilarating ziplines stretching 5km, and Jais Sledder, the region’s longest toboggan ride. Adventurous travellers will find new inspiration at the Bear Grylls Explorers Camp, giving survival training a new twist. Programmes on survival experiences and techniques have been designed by Bear Grylls and developed for adults and children by a team of highly trained instructors and experts.

Take a traditional boat ride to the Pearl Farm.

Visitors to Ras Al Khaimah can take a fascinating journey aboard a traditional pearl-fishing boat at the Suwaidi Pearls Farm, learning about the unique cultural heritage of the pearling industry and how Ras Al Khaimah is fondly referred to as ‘the pearl of the Emirates’.

With the current offering and exciting developments on the horizon, Ras Al Khaimah presents a unique experience to both new and seasoned travellers.

The morning events for the travel trade will take place on September 20 in Johannesburg and on September 22 in Cape Town.

Travel professionals from the MICE travel sector are invited to the evening event in Johannesburg on September 19 and in Cape Town on September 21.
