Advocate Vusi Pikoli has been appointed new Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at SAA. He will take office on February 1.

In his new role, Pikoli will be responsible for risk management at the national carrier, covering aviation and general legislation compliance. He will also be responsible for the implementation of the Risk Management Strategy for the airline. According to the airline, this appointment is in line with SAA’s move to prioritise cleansing the organisation of corruption.

SAA spokesperson, Tlali Tlali says that this new appointment is significant as it demonstrates SAA’s focus on strengthening management to execute its turnaround strategy with much urgency. Pikoli will answer directly to the airline’s CEO, Vuyani Jarana.

Pikoli is an admitted Advocate of the High Court, served as Head of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Director-General of the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development and is currently an adviser to the Minster of State Security.
