All four runways at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) have returned to full operations following the completion of mandatory runway safety enhancements, says Airport Technology.
US Congress requirements stipulate that all airports in the US are required to undertake Runway Safety Area (RSA) improvements to enhance safety. LAX started its RSA upgrade project in 2015, and the fourth and final phase is now complete.
The project also includes airfield modernisation and runway maintenance works at the airport.
