SA's most famous train rolls in

The Blue Train has restarted operations, with its first journey from Pretoria to Cape Town last week, according to a press release.

The two-night, three-day luxury rail experience was the first leisure travel journey the train had made since interprovincial travel was permitted during the lockdown.

The train management said they had put in place safety and hygiene protocols to ensure adherence to the highest level of hygiene. These strict protocols are in line with industry standards and the measures set by the World Health Organization and the SA Department of Tourism.

The train has announced reopening specials to encourage SA residents to experience the country through the lens of luxury rail. These discounted rates start from R12 715pps in a deluxe suite, or R16 950pps in a luxury suite. The rates apply to travel until March 31, 2021, subject to availability.
