The ancient ruins of Tralleis, in the city of Aydin in western Turkey, will open its gates to the public for the first time in August.
After decades of archaeological excavations, the ruins are being prepared to accommodate tourists, with multiple restoration, landscaping and conservation efforts under way.
Tralleis is believed to be the birthplace of notated music, and is renowned for its Roman era architecture.
The ruins include a gymnasium, known as the Triumphal Arch, Roman baths, a marketplace, a theatre, temples, early Christian churches and necropolis and a marble-paved avenue.
Aydin is only an hour from Kusadasi and is home to a range of attractions including the ancient city of Nysa, thermal springs, and the Dilek Peninsula-Büyük Menderes Delta National Park.
