SAX-Airlink competition heats up

24 Oct 2013 - by Tammy Sutherns

SA Express will launch new routes in November, which are currently dominated by Airlink.
SAX’s new routes are Cape Town-George, Johannesburg-Nelspruit and Johannesburg-Pietermartizburg.
“Our studies show that there is enough passenger growth and market demand for another operator to fly these routes and we believe that by offering competitive fares, we will stimulate demand and make these routes even more popular than they are currently” says SAX gm commercial, Brian van Wyk.
He adds that SAX welcomes Airlink flying on some of its routes as the competition places the consumers at the centre and makes flying even more affordable. “South Africa needs a competitive market that can contribute towards economic growth and present consumers with lower fares,” Brian says.
