Ingeli gets a facelift

INGELI Forest Lodge in
Kokstad, KZN, has upgraded
its conference facilities and
rooms. The lodge has also
extended its menu to light
meals.
The reception and dining
areas and all the rooms
have been renovated, says
md, Clinton Armour. A
new conference venue, the
Pelindaba, has been added.
Ingeli has four conference
rooms and can cater for 200
delegates and accommodate.

Fresh look for Oude Werf  

OUDE Werf Hotel in
Stellenbosch, Western Cape,
will undergo the nal stage of
a multimillion-rand renovation
that will see the hotel close
for May, June and July. The
hotel will remain open until
April 30 and from August 1 as
work taking place during these
periods will not affect guests.

planning for the make-over
has evolved over the past ve
years. “We are really excited
about Oude Werf’s facelift. It’s
a great opportunity to remain
current in an ever-changing
hospitality environment.”
Between April and October
the hotel will add 13 rooms,
bringing the number of rooms
to 62. Some of the classic
rooms will be upgraded, the
kitchen will be extended and
an elevator installed in the
main hotel foyer. A lounge and
bar and the urban-chic Liefde
Bistro have been added. The
revamp is set to be completed
by the end of October.

New owners for Long Street hotel

LONG Street Boutique Hotel in
Cape Town has been acquired
by Dutch businessman,
Raymond Hasselerharm.
 Formerly known as the
Maremoto hotel, the property
has undergone renovation
that includes a revamp of the
in-house restaurant, while
air-conditioning and double
glazing have been added
to the existing rooms.
The hotel is set for a second
phase of renovations, which
will include the addition
of eight rooms to the rst
oor, ve of which will have
balconies overlooking Long
Street. A guest lounge with
views of Table Mountain will
also be incorporated. Further
upgrades are also planned for
the existing rooms.
Building alterations are set
to commence in May and will
be completed by August. The
upgrade will result in the hotel
acquiring four-star status (it
is currently three-star) and
offering 14 en-suite rooms.
The hotel currently comprises
a restaurant, bar and six
en-suite rooms.

Jackalberry joins Thornybush Collection

JACKALBERRY Lodge in
the Thornybush Private
Game Reserve, Limpopo,
will join The Thornybush
Collection, with effect
from March 1. Previously
all sales and marketing
were done by Legend
Lodges, Hotels & Resorts.
 “Although Jackalberry
has grown to have a
special place in the heart
of the Legend Lodges
portfolio, we are happy
to hand it over as a
lodge that has gained
market share while part
of the Legend group,”
says Mart Cilliers, md of
Legend Lodges, Hotels
& Resorts. “The primary
focus of Legend Lodges
for 2014 will be the
management of all seven
existing properties in
the portfolio, of which
the shareholders have
ownership themselves,”
she added.
Allan Mansfield, owner
of Jackalberry Lodge, has
decided to join the eight
commercial lodges in the
Thornybush Collection and
since all these lodges are
based in the Thornybush
Reserve it makes sense
to form a strong alliance
with them. Allan also
has shares in Waterbuck
Lodge, which is part of
the Thornybush portfolio.

AHA acquires Kopanong Hotel and Conferences

AFRICAN Hotels and
Adventures (AHA)
has acquired the full
management contract
for Kopanong Hotel and
Conferences in the East
Rand, Johannesburg.
The four-star hotel, which
has 18 different conference
venues, the largest of which
can seat 600 delegates,
specialises in conferencing
and events. Kopanong
is situated on a country
estate, about 20 minutes
from OR Tambo International
Airport, and can
accommodate up to 240
guests. Facilities include a
mini-gym, Jacuzzi, sauna,
sun-bed and health spa.
“We will help put
Kopanong back on the hotel
and conferencing map and
we look forward to adding
considerable value to the
hotel through our years
of experience in the eld,
our sophisticated booking
systems and our hands-on
management approach,”
