Spain reopens to South Africans

07 Jan 2022
Comments | 0

Correction, Jan 7, 2022: The Spanish Consulate in Cape Town has informed an agent via email (and the agent informed Travel News) that there is in fact no quarantine required for South Africans arriving in Spain, despite the Official Spanish Tourism website stating the opposite.

Travel News apologises for publishing the erroneous information, which was taken directly from Travel Safe (Spain's official tourism website).

Although Spain has reopened its borders to fully vaccinated travellers from nine southern African countries, (removing a travel ban instated on November 30), it still considers these countries "high-risk", and so a 10-day quarantine is required of travellers from these destinations upon their arrival. (This article has been corrected on Jan 7 2022, to state that there is no quarantine. See above.)

Travellers must show proof of a negative test result, (taken within the 72 hours prior to arrival if a PCR test, or 24 hours if a rapid antigen test).

All passengers arriving in Spain from any country, including those in transit to other countries, must complete a Health Control Form before departure and obtain their QR code to present at boarding and on arrival in Spain.
