Singapore Airlines will restart passenger flights between Singapore and Johannesburg from October 14.

The airline said in a statement that it would start with a weekly service between Singapore and Johannesburg. As travel demand picks up, these services will be progressively increased and extended to Cape Town.

The first flight will take off from Singapore at 01h30 on Wednesday, October 14, and arrive in Johannesburg at 06h10 on the same day. The return flight will depart from Johannesburg at 13h45 on Thursday, October 15, and arrive back in Singapore the next day at 06h10.

Passengers are permitted to transit to other destinations via Singapore Changi Airport. Transfers are only allowed between the Singapore Airlines Group, which includes Singapore Airlines, SilkAir and Scoot. Many countries also have entry requirements and border controls in place to contain the spread of COVID-19.

“Singapore Airlines remains committed to serving the South African market and supporting the country to recover from the pandemic as soon as possible,” said a spokesperson for the airline.
