StatsSA: March departures show growth

South African residents departing the country in March this year grew by 11,4% compared with 368 211 international departures in March 2023, revealed StatsSA’s latest International Tourism report.

The 410 217 departures in March were a 33% increase from the 307 099 departures in February.

Most departures crossed the border by road (51,4%) followed by air (41,8%).

Of the total 171 360 air departures in March, 126 278 departed from OR Tambo (JNB), 36 195 from Cape Town International (CPT), 8 284 departed from King Shaka (DUR) and 603 departed from other airports.
