AS TNW went to print, CemAir was in court battling to have the South African Civil Aviation Authority’s

(SACAA) latest grounding of its entire fleet lifted. SACAA grounded the airline again on January 11 by

suspending its Airline Operator Certificate. This follows a previous suspension on December 14, which

was lifted on December 20 when CemAir obtained a High Court order temporarily lifting the suspension.

CemAir is seeking similar relief in court for the current suspension today (January 16). Phindiwe Gwebu,

SACAA spokesperson, told TNW CemAir had submitted its formal appeals for both the December and

January suspensions. She said the appeals were being considered and that SACAA was expected to

respond to them on January 17. See eTNW for updates on this story.
