Enforcing travel policy compliance remains a concern for travel buyers. This is according to research conducted by the GBTA in partnership with RoomIt by CWT. Disparity exists between travel buyers, the policy parameters they are trying to work within and travellers’ behaviour.

The study identified hotel booking processes, amenities and loyalty points as key areas in which the travellers’ wants and the travel policy’s parameters differed.

The research found that 78% of business travellers were happy with their rate allowances for booking hotels. However, 66% also said they would like higher rate allowances to be able to stay at properties that met their needs better. In terms of amenities, more than three-quarters of business travellers preferred a bundled rate that included multiple amenities, even if that rate was slightly higher. Amenities such as premium WiFi, food delivery and dry-cleaning services were cited as amenities travellers would purchase if they had no limits within their company policy. The report also revealed that 71% of travellers surveyed believed they should be given the option to earn loyalty points during their business travels.
