The Table Bay Hotel, one of Cape Town’s most recognisable landmarks, will temporarily close in February 2025 to undergo a R1 billion transformation. Upon completion, the property will reopen as the InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town – introducing the InterContinental brand to the city for the first time.

Key upgrades include:

  • Expansion from 261 to 306 rooms including 45 new suites

  • Elevated outdoor space with panoramic harbour and mountain views

  • Dedicated space for premium guests under the InterContinental brand

  • A new wellness facility to complement the hotel’s luxury services

  • Modernised interiors designed to enhance the guest experience

The hotel, currently operated by Sun International, has been a key player in Cape Town’s hospitality sector since opening in 1997. The partnership with InterContinental Hotels Group will align the property with global luxury standards.

Renovations are expected to be complete later this year.
