Thailand plans to extend visa validity

25 Aug 2022

Correction on August 25, 2022: South Africans are already eligible for a 30-day stay in Thailand on the visa exemption scheme.

Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism is planning to extend its tourist visa validity by 15 days.

With the extension, travellers entering Thailand on the visa-on-arrival (VOA) scheme will be allowed to stay in the country for 30 days instead of the current 15, reports Breaking Travel News. VOAs are available to travellers from 18 countries.

Travellers from the 50 countries who can enter Thailand on the visa exemption scheme will be able to stay for 45 days instead of 30 days.

The ministry plans to make the changes valid for travel between October this year and March 2023.
