Thailand is planning to tighten rules around the sale of cannabis, three years after the substance was decriminalised for recreational use.
The Ministry of Public Health ordered cannabis to be restricted to medical use only, accusing the use of the substance for creating social problems among young people, according to Aljazeera.
The $1bn (R17,8bn) industry has boomed recently, with thousands of cannabis stores opening across the country over the past three years. The sale of cannabis has remained relatively unregulated, which the government believes now needs to be scaled back.
Thailand became the first country in Asia to fully decriminalise cannabis in 2022.
