Winter night train to French Alps
A new winter night train will connect Paris to the French Alps from December 19, 2025, until March 20, 2026.
The Travelski Night Express will link Paris directly to three ski resorts: Moutiers, Aime and Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
According to Metro, the train will depart Paris on Friday evenings and arrive on Saturday mornings, taking around 8 hours to the final stop.
The train will feature 660 couchettes, a bar car and restaurant.
Amtrak launches Mardi Gras service
Amtrak will launch a new twice-daily intercity train service between New Orleans and Mobile starting in the summer.
The Amtrak Mardi Gras Service, travelling along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, will offer morning and evening departures from New Orleans and Mobile. Both cities have a long history of Mardi Gras celebrations – as do the communities of Coastal Mississippi, through which the train passes. The trains feature wide reclining seats, generous legroom, no middle seats and generous carry-on baggage allowances.
New direct Poland-Croatia train
Poland's national rail operator, PKP Intercity, is expected to launch a direct service from Warsaw to Rijeka, Croatia, from July 1, to boost tourism between the two countries.
The proposed route includes stops in Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia and Croatia.
The service's launch is still dependent on coordination with international rail partners, particularly in Austria and Slovenia, where infrastructure constraints may affect scheduling, according to TVP World.
Taiwan launches dessert train
Taiwan Railway Tours and LION Travel launched a luxury dessert train to redefine the afternoon tea experience. The Heifeng Train is Taiwan’s first dessert-themed train with pastel-colored carriages, panoramic ocean views and Michelin-starred desserts.
According to Travel Noire, the train operates on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and the trip is roughly two to three hours one way.
Passengers will receive a layered snack box with small bites, including a citrus glow blue bow pastry, floral tea-infused canelé, kale light salad, a French scallion croissant, Sakura shrimp and chrysanthemum cracker, a taro duck bun, and more.
The train will make stops for passengers to take photos of the views and landscapes. The route changes each season, so no two experiences will be alike.
