Rail Europe introduces a multi-provider function

Rail Europe, a provider of B2B travel technology, has introduced a new multi-provider function with a catalogue of more than 200 rail products.

Multiple train tickets from different providers can be searched and booked on Rail Europe’s platforms, RailPortal, RailFlash and RailAPI.

The platforms allow agents to search the catalogue, so they do not have to search and book with each provider individually. Instead, they can book multiple legs of a journey in a single, streamlined booking.

DB declines new night trains

Deutsche Bahn (DB), the German railway provider, is reported to be declining to sell a new night train operator, European Sleeper.

The EU’s rail ticket sales market is dominated by state-owned rail ticket vendors, with a market share of over 90%, including DB in Germany.

This issue has raised concerns about Germany’s intentions to increase rail provider options while reducing carbon emissions.

Vietnam resort town introduces train experience

Due to tourist demand, Vietnam Railway Corporation launched a train tourism experience in the mountain resort town of Da Lat, the capital of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

On the 7km-route, tourists can enjoy nighttime views of the mountain scenery, a buffet and live music across two carriages. The train also boasts free Wi-Fi, and wedding services.

Passengers can board the train at Da Lat Station, a unique architectural structure inspired by Langbiang Mountain and the traditional rong house, a type of house on stilts unique to the Central Highlands in Vietnam.

Trains are scheduled to depart Da Lat Station at 18h15 and 20h20 and leave Trai Mat Station at 19h15 and 21h20.

Fares range from VND72 000 (R54) to VND100 000 (R75) for each trip.

Da Lat is a popular resort town surrounded by hills, pine forests, lakes, and waterfalls.
