Travel ‘Gentleman’ passes on

One of the founding members of the Gentlemen in Travel (GIT) lunch club, Tony Merchak, has passed away.

“In addition to being the inspiration behind the creation of GIT, Tony was the pillar, the heart, and soul of our club for almost two decades. He was actively involved in the committee in various roles. The culture, camaraderie and spirit that binds us is what Tony bestowed to the club and to each one of us,” says GIT honorary member, George Argyropoulos.

“He was a great man; great businessman, father, husband, friend, and mentor to so many of us. Many of us in the industry owe our success as businesspeople to his teachings. Happy Travels Tony!”

Tony’s funeral will be held on March 13, 10h00 at the Lady of the Cedars of Lebanon Catholic Church in Woodmead.
