Goods produced in the European Union (EU) will become more expensive in the US following the announcement that the country will impose tariffs on EU goods.
The Office of the US Trade Representative released a list of products that it plans to target, with the duties coming into effect on October 18.
The duties include:
- 10% on tariffs on aircraft from France, Germany, Spain and the UK.
- 25% duty on single-malt Irish and Scotch whiskies, and various garments and blankets from the UK.
- 25% tariffs on coffee from Germany.
- 25% duty on various cheeses, olive oil and frozen meat from Germany, Spain and the UK.
- 25% tariffs on certain pork products, butter and yoghurt from multiple countries.
The US has previously lodged complaints over what it calls illegal subsidies for aircraft maker Airbus by several European governments.
