Uber, in partnership with UK artificial intelligence firm Wayve, will trial autonomous cars in London next year, allowing users to book driverless services on the app.
Wayve has been testing the technology in London with human oversight and in line with current legislation.
The service was originally planned for 2026 but was moved to the second half of 2027 after the UK government changed its rules about the driverless cars. However, a new framework for self-driving commercial cars means services can begin in 2026.
In March, Uber launched the autonomous service in Austin, allowing users to book self-driving cars through the app.
