UK Border Force plans new strike

27 Jan 2023

The UK Home Office and Border Force have warned travellers that they may face longer queues and disruption next week due to their next planned strike.

Members of the Public and Commercial Service (PCS) union who work for the Border Force will strike again from February 1 until 07h00 on February 2.

PCS members went on strike at airports and ports over the Christmas period, however the latest round of strikes is set to be the largest civil service action seen in years.

International arrivals at all air and maritime ports, as well as those arriving via UK border controls at Calais, Dunkirk, and Coquelles in northern France, are expected to be affected by the strikes, reports Travel Weekly.

According to the government, military personnel, civil servants and volunteers have been trained to support the Border Force and the flow of travellers, however those entering the UK should still be prepared for possible disruption.

Travellers have been urged to check the latest travel advice with their operators prior to travelling and to use eGates where possible.
