UK increases pax tax

From April 1, the UK will increase Air Passenger Duty (APD) for the year until March 31, 2027.

The following increases will apply:

  • Domestic flights: Will increase from £7 (R159) to £8 (R182) for the lowest class of travel and from £14 (R318) to £16 (R364) for all other classes.
  • Flights up to 3 220km: Will increase from £13 (R295) to £15 (R341) for the lowest class of travel and from £28 (R637) to £32 (R727) for all other classes.
  • Flights between 3 220km and 8 850km: Will increase from £90 (R2 045) to £102 (R2 318) for the lowest class of travel and from £216 (R4 910) to £244 (R5 548) for all other classes.
  • Flights over 8 850km: Will increase from £94 (R2 137) to £106 (R2 410) for the lowest class of travel and from £224 (R5 548) to £253 (R5 753) for all other classes.

The APD increase accounts for previous high inflation that had not been reflected in previous years’ increases and will increase again in 2027 in line with retail price inflation.
