UK’s eVTOLs will take off within two years

The first flying taxi services could take off in the UK within the next two years, according to the Department of Transport’s Future of Flight Action Plan.

The action plan estimates that while the first human-piloted eVTOL would be fully operational within two years, autonomous eVTOLs could take to the skies by 2030.

The plan also predicts that drone delivery services will be operational by 2027.

“Cutting-edge battery technology will revolutionise transport and this plan will make sure we have the infrastructure and regulation in place,” said Aviation and Technology Minister, Anthony Browne.

“We’re making sure the UK is at the forefront of this dramatic shift in transportation.”

The action plan will also boost the UK’s small aerodromes by setting up a regulatory framework so that they can be used as vertiports, reports travelmole.com.

The report anticipates eVTOLs will generate £45 billion (R1 trillion) for the UK economy by the end of 2030.
