MK backtracks on sports equipment charge

Air Mauritius has reversed its decision to charge passengers for sports equipment, allowing passengers to once again include it in their free baggage allowance.

Effective July 1, sports/special equipment is included in the free baggage allowance. For example, if a passenger is entitled to two pieces, one can be their personal bag and the other can be the sports equipment. If a Kestrelflyer member is entitled to an additional piece, the passenger can use it to carry the sports/special equipment.

In June, the airline introduced charges for sports equipment on short- and medium-haul flights, including Johannesburg and Cape Town flights.
