United Airlines has announced changes to the leadership of its African team, filling the vacancy of General Manager for Johannesburg and expanding the management of other African leaders.

Penny Alexandrou will be the new General Manager for Johannesburg, taking over from Aida Skirde, who has been transferred to Belgium. Alexandrou will now be responsible for United’s operations at OR Tambo.

“We are delighted to welcome Penny Alexandrou to our Johannesburg operations. Penny is bringing more than 24 years of industry experience to her new role and will be instrumental in leading our team towards continued service excellence,” said Mark Clays, United Airlines Regional Director of Airport Operations for Europe, Israel and Africa.

South Africa has been added to the portfolio under the management of Oluwatomi Bola-Sadipe, who previously covered Nigeria and Ghana.

Amit Badiani will also be taking over from Luc Geerts, who led the South African, Ghanaian and Nigerian markets. Badiani will have an expanded remit, including offline markets in Africa and Europe.

Development Promotions will continue to be the primary point of contact for agents in the Southern African market.
