Update: Impact of French protests on SA travellers

04 Dec 2018 - by eTNW

Local Tour Operators told eTNW that SA travel to France has not been disrupted by the recent, nationwide protests.

Public transport has not been affected and, according to United Europe, neither have private transfers.

International media have reported that the protests only occur on weekends and that no disruptions occur during the week.

On Saturday (December 1), on the Champs-Elysées in central Paris, police fired tear gas, stun grenades and water cannon, while protesters hurled projectiles and set buildings on fire. Nearly 190 fires were put out and six buildings were set ablaze, according to France's interior ministry. This marked the third consecutive weekend of protests.

At the time of print, Singapore was the only country to issue a travel advisory.
