Visitor survey on track

THE first phase of the Cape Peninsula National Park's (CPNP) visitor survey has been completed with results expected to be released by August.
So reports James Jackleman, CPNP's manager of research and information systems, who told Travel Now that 2 000 questionnaires - which were distributed amongst visitors to the park, tour operators and travel agents - are currently being "evaluated and interpreted".
"This first phase was basically to determine visitor expectations, visitor and operator needs and likes and dislikes of the park."
According to Jackleman, the second phase will be completed by September and entails a "full year's count" in order to provide an accurate global figure of the number of annual visitors to the park.
Preliminary statistics indicate that approximately 4,5m people visit the park each year, but September's count will provide a more accurate figure and provide insight on which entry points are most utilised, he believes.
