Wings Travel Management moves to London

WINGS Travel

Management

plans to move its

headquarters to London

and commence operations

in Singapore by the end of

the year.

“London will solidify its

position as our global

corporate headquarters

over the next 12 to 18

months and South Africa

will remain our strategic

Africa Middle East (AME)

regional hub, incorporating

Angola, Nigeria, the UAE

and Saudi Arabia,” says

Tony Sofianos, ceo of

Wings Travel Management.

He says South Africa has

always been an important

market for Wings,

accounting for a significant

percentage of its £250m

(R4,3bn) annual global

activity. However, Tony

says because Wings is a

global niche business, the

company constantly needs

to reinvent and focus its

business on other sectors

and markets.

For Wings to adopt

a more global and

sustainable strategy,

Tony believes that London

is better positioned, for

various reasons (some

economic and some

practical) to support

this strategy.

Tony says until his family

move to London in 2018,

he will be commuting

between London and South

Africa and thereafter he

will spend around seven

to ten days a month in

Johannesburg and Africa,

actively involved in the

company’s AME business.

The commencement of

operations in Singapore will

enable the TMC to provide

complete support to the

needs of clients in the Asia

Pacific region.

The changes coincide

with company’s 25th

anniversary this year.
