Acropolis tickets – book online

The Acropolis in Athens has launched a new booking website to manage tourist numbers, implement hourly time slots and protect the archaeological site.

The newly launched system limits Acropolis visits to 20 000 tourists a day. Access will be granted to 3 000 visitors between 08h00 and 09h00 followed by 2 000 visitors every subsequent hour, reported eturbonews.com.

For a single-use tickets, general admission costs €20 (R403), and €10 (R202) for non-European youth between six and 25 years of age.

A combined package ticket that includes visits to the Acropolis & Slopes, the Ancient Agora, Hadrian’s Library, Kerameikos, Aristotle’s School, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Roman Agora, costs €30 (R605).

The system will be extended to other historic sites from next April.

Visitors may also buy tickets from the official Greek government tourism website.
