AF and LH pull out of Air Europa bid

Air France-KLM and the Lufthansa Group have withdrawn their bids for a stake in Air Europa.

Air France-KLM pulled out of the race on July 31 as it could not reach an agreement with the owner of the Spanish airline, the Hidalgo family’s Globalia, a spokesperson told Reuters.

Only a week later, on August 5, Lufthansa told Reuters that it had also abandoned its plan to bid for a stake in Air Europa.

Turkish Airlines is now the only remaining bidder.

Currently, Globalia owns an 80% share in the airline and International Airlines Group has a 20% stake.
