Etihad will increase services to Karachi, Pakistan, to four daily flights from October 1, increasing frequencies to 28 weekly nonstop flights.

The four daily flights will depart Abu Dhabi at 07h50, 14h40, 23h40 and 02h25. Return flights will depart Karachi at 12h00, 21h35, 05h15 and 06h35.

This follows the announcement of flights to Peshawar, Pakistan, from September 29.

Lufthansa and ITA expand codeshare

The Lufthansa Group and ITA Airways have expanded their codeshare agreement as part of ITA Airways’ integration into the group.

From July 1, passengers will be able to combine flights from Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines with long-haul flights from ITA Airways in a single booking. Previously, the codeshare applied only to domestic routes.

For example, travellers will be able to fly with Lufthansa from Frankfurt and Munich, connecting via Rome with ITA Airways to destinations such as Bangkok, Jeddah, and Riyadh. Codeshare flights via Rome to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo will also be available with Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines from Vienna.

Codeshare flights to Africa and Asia will follow in the coming weeks.

Munich Airport nears completion of T1 expansion

Munich Airport’s expansion of Terminal 1 is progressing on schedule, with a new state-of-the-art pier set to open in the first half of 2026.

The €665 million (R13,4bn) development will increase the airport's capacity for non-Schengen flights, with the ability to handle up to six million passengers annually.

Spanning approximately 360m in length and covering 95 000sqm, the new terminal extension will accommodate up to twelve smaller aircraft or six wide-body jets at the same time.

Airlines such as American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways are among those expected to benefit from the upgraded facilities.

Key features include centralised security screening with advanced CT technology, modern check-in counters, spacious waiting lounges, shopping and dining options, and dedicated relaxation areas.

A trial phase is planned before the terminal's official opening next year.

Dublin Airport opens new facilities

Dublin Airport has unveiled new and improved facilities at Terminals 1 and 2, including a new transport information hub, children’s entertainment areas, better lounges and new food and drink options.

The Public Transport Information Hub has been opened in Terminal 1, providing seating, free WiFi, real-time bus information for all services operating at Dublin Airport and charging points.

Three new children’s entertainment areas have been added at Departure Gates in Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The entertainment areas are equipped with brand new game zones featuring gaming consoles.

The airport also renovated the Liffey Lounge, formerly The Terminal 2 Lounge, and the Martello Lounge, formerly The East Lounge. Work will soon get underway to revamp and double the capacity of the Terminal 1 Lounge.

Additionally, Dublin Airport has introduced 15 new and improved food and drink outlets for passengers.
